Westside Extension-Subway to the Sea

Los Angeles, CA

The Westside Subway Extension project will create a new heavy rail subway corridor in Los Angeles County, extending the Metro Purple Line from its current terminus at Wilshire/Western to the West Side. The corridor will become part of the Los Angeles County Metro Rail System and the selected route is Wilshire to the VA Hospital. Alignment options between Beverly Hills and Century City and Century City and Westwood are being studied.  Recommendations by Metro as part of the adopted route include construction of stations at Wilshire/Fairfax and La Cienega and a continuation of studies for station location for Century City, Westwood/UCLA and the Westwood/VA Hospital. RAW International is the architect with Parsons Brinckerhoff for the design of the stations. RAW’s scope includes development of the general configuration for each station, design of entry portals, location of each station with respect to the trackway, and incorporation of all features called for by the Metro Rail Design Criteria and Project Station Program.
