Kaiser Baldwin Hills Medical Office Building

Los Angeles, CA

In response to Kaiser Permanente’s goal to expand outpatient care to its South Los Angeles clients, RAW International developed a concept design for a three-building outpatient medical campus and parking complex. In addition to providing first-class health care to an underserved community, the 8.65-acre medical campus would become an economic engine for the area, delivering hundreds of new jobs.

In collaboration with DLR Group, RAW International (RAW) developed a master plan for the site that responded to the Crenshaw Specific Plan. The three MOBs were organized in a linear scheme within a park-like, grand outdoor space that engages the community. North-facing glazing and lobby atria that would be physically and visually connected to the Linear Park would admit maximum daylighting towards a LEED Gold sustainability rating. In order to enhance pedestrian access, landscaped “walkable” streets along the public edges would serve as linkages to the adjacent senior housing project and shopping centers.
