Complete
programming, design and construction services were performed
for the Child Development/Infant Facility for Compton Community
College. The one-story 10,934 sq. ft. building with three
play yards operate as an expansion for two existing child
care facilities on campus. The building includes nine classrooms
with adjoining toilet rooms and observation areas for teachers.
It is designed with curved high ceilings to allow for generous
natural lighting within each classroom space. The material
palettes for the interiors include a combination of vinyl
tiles, carpet and ceramic tiles on the floors. The walls in
the hallways are printed with bright colors and interesting
graphics to allow children ease in identifying classrooms.
The exterior finish on the building is thin
brick veneer arranged in an interesting pattern. The roof
finish will be an aqua colored standing seam metal roof that
terminates at the roof fascia at color matched metal rain
gutters.
